Meet our Board of Directors

President

I was born in former Yugoslavia and came to Canada as a child. When my family came to Calgary, we lived in near downtown before settling down in Glamorgan almost 27 years ago. We moved houses a couple times within the community and when I became an adult, I ventured out and lived closer to downtown before deciding to come back to Glamorgan. Now I have my own family nestled here, with my parents nearby. Over these years, I have truly come to love Glamorgan.

I joined the board of the GCA in 2025 looking to get involved. With all the chaos in the world, I think it’s more important than ever to focus my attention on building local community. My hope is to bring people together and foster a broader sense of community in Glamorgan, which will in turn build resilience and encourage the next generation to stay in Glamorgan and continue to build and improve our community.

Damir Krnic

Vice President

I believe that each of us has the ability to make a meaningful difference right where we are. While the world's challenges can feel overwhelming, our lives are unfolding every day in our neighbourhoods, schools, parks and community spaces. Strong communities are built when ordinary people choose to get involved, share their skills and take responsibility for the places they call home.  I believe everyone has something of value to offer.

I have practiced law in Calgary for 25 years, and am a proud parent of three children. I have lived in several of Calgary's south west inner city neighbourhoods and know first-hand how volunteers shape the places where people live. I'm passionate about creating a Glamorgan with a strong sense of place - a neighbourhood known for its welcoming spirit, beautiful tree canopy, vibrant public spaces and neighbours who know and support one another.

Karen O’Keeffe

Treasurer

I grew up in Medicine Hat but have called Calgary my home for 15 years. My wife and I own a wellness clinic in Killarney and our kids have attended local schools. Our family moved into Glamorgan 10 years ago and we are very happy to be putting our roots into this community. We have enjoyed the skating rink each year, have been grateful for the yearly clean-up days, movie nights and other events. All of which is made possible by volunteers.

I joined the board of the GCA in 2026 to give back. I dream of a community and a city where trees are big and tall, little free libraries are on every block (we are getting there) and people meet and build relationships with their neighbours. Community is a powerful word. I hope through all of our efforts we can build momentum and ultimately strength in our community of Glamorgan.

Doug Meldrum

Secretary

I grew up in Southwest Calgary and have proudly called Glamorgan home for over 25 years. My two adult children were raised right here in the neighbourhood. Many of my fondest memories of them growing up are deeply entwined with this lovely community.

Over the years, I have had the privilege of serving in a number of volunteer roles supporting our local programs. While this is my first time sitting directly on the Glamorgan Community Association Board, my dedication to our neighbourhood runs deep.

To me, a strong community is built on a foundation of connection, shared experiences, and mutual support. Volunteering is the heartbeat of that foundation. It allows us to give back to the places that shape our families, ensure our traditions continue, and create a welcoming environment for the next generation of Glamorgan residents. I am happy to step into the role of Board Secretary and look forward to working together to keep our community vibrant, active, and connected.

Nicole Liesemer

Directors at Large

I moved to Calgary in 2014 and have lived in several communities in the NW and SW. In each of these, I found myself searching for the small-town community feeling that I grew up with in Cape Breton. When I moved to Glamorgan in 2020, I decided to search that feeling out and strive to build a community where neighbours become friends and family.

I joined the board as Treasurer in 2023 and served in that role for 3 terms before opting for an ‘at large’ position to lead more pet projects. Originally inspired by my naughty puppy collecting litter on every walk, I hope to start an annual spring sidewalk clean-up to keep Glamorgan vibrant.

You can catch me volunteering for our casino fundraisers, tending my garden, or walking my (still naughty, but no longer a puppy) dog around Glamorgan.

Hello! I am mom to 4 littles, friend to dogs one of which is in my care, small business owner of Upchuck studio, and nature enthusiasts among other things. My family and I moved to Glamorgan in 2021 and felt instantly welcomed. It was this vibrant community that inspired me to join the GCA as a director at large to share what I can and get to know you all better!

Glamorgan is already a great community, and I have enjoyed living here for the past six years. I plan to live here for many years to come, so I want to help keep it great and strengthen the community as much as possible. I spend plenty of time thinking globally, so I joined the Board of the Glamorgan Community Association to remind myself to act locally.

Shawn Loo

I joined the Glamorgan Association Board because I believe that one of the most meaningful impacts people can have on the world is through grassroots community effort. My goal while on the Board is to create a Glamorgan where everyone feels welcome and included. I strive to create events and programming that bring people from all over our community together to socialize and form meaningful connections. I manage the Glamorgan newsletter and social media pages so let me know if there is something you want to see featured!

Kim has been a resident in Glamorgan for 27 years now. She and her husband feel blessed to have made the wise choice of location for their forever home. Kim has found a fulfilling purpose in being involved with her community’s CA and loves working in the background at the heart of the community. You may have met Kim in the Glam Shack as she was the coordinator for 10 years while her boys attended Glamorgan TLC and AE Cross.  Kim is the volunteer driver for the monthly Seniors Corner lunch group and has also been spotted at annual Community Clean ups.  She has a deep love for the community and hopes to assist in creating a safe, welcoming and enjoyable space for all Glamorgan residents.
